Thursday Live at Louis – Is it Manchester’s best midweek treat?

Manchester has plenty of great restaurants, but every now and then somewhere offers something that makes a normal Thursday feel like a special occasion.

I recently visited Thursday Live at Louis, and it completely lived up to the hype.

I was invited by Louis to experience the evening (with 50% off our food), but as always, these are my own honest thoughts.

The atmosphere was the first thing that stood out. Live music filled the restaurant without overpowering conversation, creating that perfect balance between lively and relaxed. It felt like the sort of place you’d happily book for a celebration, a date night or simply because it’s Thursday.

We started with freshly baked focaccia with parmigiano cream & Italian truffle salami, fresh oysters and a glass of champagne before moving on to Louis’ famous Limoncello Spritz, which has become something of a signature drink for the restaurant.

Dinner included a beautifully cooked grain fed Angus Rib-eye steak with a side of their moorish crispy truffle and parmesan potatoes and one of the restaurant’s favourite pasta dishes Rogatoni Alla Vodka with crispy guanciale. Every course felt well executed, generous and beautifully presented.

Thursday Live

One of the highlights of the evening was the live music. Every Thursday, Louis hosts talented singers who create a fantastic atmosphere without ever overpowering conversation. It made the evening feel special without making it difficult to chat and enjoy dinner.

What I loved most was that the whole evening felt effortless. Great service, fantastic food and a brilliant atmosphere combined to make it one of those nights you immediately start recommending to friends.

If you’re looking for somewhere that makes Thursday feel like the start of the weekend, Thursday Live at Louis is well worth booking.
